James is the Program Coordinator for the Adventure Guide certificate program in the Adventure Studies Department. prio to Joining Thompson Rivers UNiversity James has been an international river guide and operations manager for 20 years, having worked on six of the worlds seven continents. James has been teaching rafting and river rescue courses for the last 20 years across the globe, having taught and mentored the first female Turkish and Fijian river guides. James still travels internationally guiding expedition trips and teaching rafting and risk management courses overseas. His passions include natural history, rivers and wild places. He is currently one of two International Raft Federation Level 4/5 Instructors in western Canada.

James is completing his Master of Arts in Leadership from Royal Roads University focusing on the Adventure Industry risk management and gender balance.
