I am of Cree descent from Northern Manitoba and of Russian descent. My nursing interests are regarding the contributions that traditional Indigenous knowledge can make to community health and wellbeing through linguistic and cultural education. I support culturally-based research for the reclaiming of health of Indigenous nations through cultural education. I am serving as Secretariat of the Indigenous World Forum on Water and Peace and I am a member of the Canadian Commission for UNESCO. I have worked across cultures, sectors and disciplines (health, education, law and the environment) to: 1.) develop curriculum about water and health, based on our teachings and laws; 2.) work with Indigenous communities to create their own health visions and declarations that guide protective water policy development; 3.) build on institutional and community capacity. Keywords: Indigenous health, traditional knowledge, water education, climate change, nursing education, cultural safety.
