Bipartite Appointment non-research position but active in consulting

Major consulting projects include:

Developed and delivered a series of workshops for Highland Valley Mines (Logan Lake), Gibraltar Mines (Williams Lake) and Inland Glass and Aluminum (Kamloops). Workshops included Project Management, Excel financial and data modeling.

Assisted National Research Council representatives with two small manufacturers to bring their in-house developed products to commercial stage. Responsible for the development of the complete project life cycle from establishing business requirements, analyzing the risk and using a balanced scorecard customer satisfaction survey metric to control the success of the project.

Developed a series of informational and operational strategies for small and medium sized manufactures and high technology companies under the Federal Government IRAP program. This included examining feasibility of Frequency Identification Tags (RFID) and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and assisted them in development of software solutions to control inventory and manufacturing processes.

Senior Consultant in the Decision Support Group, focusing on the use of information technology to leverage decision-making and operations improvement

Developed a series of 20-year financial forecast models for the world's first retractable roof stadium complex, an $800 million project. I was directly responsible for both the construction and operational phases and tax implications of the entire project. Reported to the Board of Directors of the public private partnership. This project comprised 40% of my workload for 3 years. Also modeled the financial operations of Westinghouse, Canada examining the impact on their expansion plans of buying existing distribution centres or building new ones.

Using Microsoft Excel, I designed a multi-criteria decision making software tool based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to restructure the budget allocation process of a consortium of Vancouver and Toronto Hospitals.

Created a series of interactive visual simulation models for Magna International's proposed Just-in-time stamping facility, Canada Post's material handling facility, Ford Glass's computerized glass cutting line and numerous simulations of General Motor's truck plant. Used this tool to develop the layout of McDonald's Restaurant's first drive through service. Also developed a series of strategic linear programming models to re-balance production allocation and distribution network, both trucking and rail, for the entire operations of Lantic Sugar across Canada. Potential annual savings of $700,000.
