My general interests include landscaping, watching movies, playing volleyball, and growing figs, lemons, and tomatoes all together with my family.

Research Interests

My research interests include science and chemical education with a focus on the use of remote instrumentation for laboratory and classroom activities and the assessment of laboratory learning outcomes. Since 2006, I have been a co-Director of the BC-Integrated Laboratory Network (BC-ILN) together with Dr. Sharon Brewer, developing cyber-enabled instrumentation and resources for instructors anywhere in the world. I am also involved in natural products chemistry research using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR) for structural determination and chemical analysis. I have investigated biologically-active metabolites from a diverse collection of sources including marine sponges, terrestrial plants, microorganisms, beef and dairy products.
